Bibles are actually allowed in schools and protected by the First Amendment. Even the ACLU agrees. Now, I have heard individual anecdotes about individual schools making a blanket ban on the Bible. A friend of mine said that the Bible was banned in his school from book bags and lockers for being too controversial. However, this is the exception not the rule.
By the way, it should read: Bibles aren't allowed in schools anymore, but are encouraged in prisons. If kids were allowed to read it at school; they may not end up in prison.
