Times are changing...

The Texas Republican Party platform of 2010 included the following line.

Texas Sodomy Statutes – We oppose the legalization of sodomy. We demand that Congress exercise its authority granted by the U.S. Constitution to withhold jurisdiction from the federal courts from cases involving sodomy.
The 2014 platform however has no mention of "sodomy" and replaced the arrest the homosexual portion with a line about reparation therapy.

Reparative Therapy- We recognize the legitimacy and efficacy of counseling, which offers reparative therapy and treatment for those patients seeking healing and wholeness from their homosexual lifestyle. No laws or executive orders shall be imposed to limit or restrict access to this type of therapy.
There is no scientific data promoting the efficacy of reparative therapy.  A small minority of those that identify as homosexual will identify later as heterosexual whether they attend therapy or not.  There is no reliable evidence that reparative therapy is the cause.  The vast majority of people who attend reparative therapy continue in their orientation.

It took the Texas GOP just four years to give up on arresting homosexuals.  Hopefully in four years they will either produce studies that reparative therapy works or abandon it as well.

San Antonio shooting

On Sunday December 17, 2012, 2 days after the CT shooting, a man went to a restaurant in San Antonio to kill his X-girlfriend. After he shot her, most of the people in the restaurant fled next door to a theater. The gunman followed them and entered the theater so he could shoot more people. He started shooting and people in the theater started running and screaming. It’s like the Aurora, CO theater story plus a restaurant!

Now aren’t you wondering why this isn’t a lead story in the national media along with the school shooting?

There was an off duty county deputy at the theater. SHE pulled out her gun and shot the man 4 times before he had a chance to kill anyone. So since this story makes the point that the best thing to stop a bad person with a gun is a good person with a gun, the media is treating it like it never happened.

Only the local media covered it. The city is giving her a medal next week. Just thought you’d like to know.

Agenda revealed! If you had any doubts that the media was pushing for this and who their masters were, doubt no longer. This is spooky. Alot of what you read in the ‘conspiracy world’ is bull but there IS alot of truth too.. You just have to sort out the facts yourself. -Mort

Attempted murder unfortunately is never as sexy as murder. He didn't shoot his girlfriend, she was not at the restaurant.[3] His pistol jammed when he attempted to shoot up the restaurant. [1] Also, he was not as heavily armed as the Newtown shooter. A Glock 23 .40 has a standard magazine of 13 rounds with an optional magazine of 15 or 17.[2] [3] If Garcia had had a better working weapon with a larger magazine and more fire power like in Newtown, he may have been more effective.

Derren Brown - Miracles for Sale - Language Warning

At around thirty minutes there are a few f-words.  The first one is the commercial break preview.  The second one is the replay of the preview. At about thirty-seven minutes, there is a third f-word when the fake pastor messes up his sermon. The fourth one is at about fifty minutes when "Pastor James" gets upset. The fifth and sixth times are when Derren repeats it. The seventh is at an hour when they replay the first f-word. This is British TV and the f-word does not carry the same weight there as it does in the United States.

Despite the language, I think that it is important to see how things attributed to the power of God can be replicated by magic tricks. While some frauds may have deluded themselves, the trick of growing limbs is the mark of a knowing fraud.

I don't believe in Heaven anymore, Moody's just dead.

A pastor torturing their family pet, prompts five year old not to believe in heaven anymore. This is a sad story and my second cat killing story of the week.

BASTROP, Texas -- A Central Texas pastor is being accused of throwing a neighbor's cat off of a bridge.

Rick Bartlett, pastor of the Bastrop Christian Church, is facing animal cruelty charges. Bastrop Police Chief Michael Black said Bartlett admitted that he caught the cat, named Moody, in a trap on Sunday, Jan. 15. Bartlett told them that he was having a problem with feral cats in his garden.

Moody also told police that he had the cat in a cage in the back of his pick-up truck for three days and forgot about him until Tuesday, Jan. 17., when Bartlett brought the cat to police. An animal control officer noticed a name tag including the phone number of Moody’s owners, Sarah and Eddy Bell, on the cat's collar. The officer offered to take Moody back to his owners but police said Bartlett told them he’d take the cat back himself since they were his neighbors.

Later on the same day, a park visitor discovered Moody’s near lifeless body on the bank of the Colorado River, some 40-50 feet below a bridge.

Greg Maynard, a veterinarian with the Crossroads Animal Hospital, said Moody had severe internal injuries but no external injuries consitent with being hit with a car. Maynard said Moody was "just laid out like a sack of potatoes. No obvious signs of trauma externally. No blood or nothing broke."

The same Animal Control Officer who came to the injured cat’s aid last Tuesday was the same officer who assisted Bartlett earlier that day. She recognized the cat which is how police made the connection to the pastor.

Moody was Sarah and Eddy Bell's cat for 11 years. They are having a difficult time understanding what happened to the beloved member of their family. Trying to explain his death to their five-year old daughter has proved challenging.

“She also asked me where Moody is now and I said, 'Baby he's in Heaven,'" said Sarah. "She knows the man who did this is a pastor at the Bastrop Christian Church and she said, 'I don't believe in Heaven anymore, Moody's just dead.'”

So far, no witnesses have come forward saying they saw Bartlett throwing Moody from the bridge, but in the eyes of the law, the animal cruelty charges are the same since he admitted to police that the animal was in his care.

Attempts to reach Bartlett for comment on this story Monday were unsuccessful.

Lady Apostle Helen Ukpabio is coming to Houston

The genesis of these blogs about Nigerian Lady Apostle Helen Ukpabio has to do with her conference that she is holding in Houston, Texas from March 14th - 25th.[1][2]  She is a noted exorcist of child witches. Earlier she attempted to use Nigerian law to ban all criticism of her.

In the lawsuit, Ms. Ukpabio alleges that the state law infringes on her freedom of religion. She seeks 2 billion naira (about $13 million) in damages, as well as “an order of perpetual injunction restraining the respondents” from interfering with or otherwise denouncing her church’s “right to practice their religion and the Christian religious belief in the existence of God, Jesus Christ, Satan, sin, witchcraft, heaven and hellfire.”

In other words, in the name of religious freedom, Ms. Ukpabio seeks a gag order on anyone who disagrees with her.

She has made a number of claims and I will survey them over the next few days.

No Habla Espanol and they still sent her to Colombia

In fairness to ICE, all Turner needed to do apparently was give her real name.  Also ICE did believe that she was 22 years old.  Still all ICE needs is a name, what if someone gives a fake name?

(CBS) DALLAS - A 14-year-old Texas girl who has been missing since 2010 was mistakenly deported to Colombia by immigration agents and is now sitting in a detention facility waiting to come home. According to CBS affiliate KHOU Jakadrien Turner ran away from home in the fall of 2010 following her parents divorce and the death of her grandfather. She ended up in Houston, where she was arrested for theft. The girl gave police a fake name, which apparently belonged to a 22-year-old illegal immigrant from Colombia, who had warrants for her arrest.

KHOU reports that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) took the girl's fingerprints, but didn't confirm her identity before deporting her.

Jakadrien reportedly speaks no Spanish.

"How do you deport a teenager and send her to Colombia without a passport, without anything?" asks the girl's grandmother, Lorene Turner, who was able to track the girl down through Facebook.

"She talked about how they had her working in this big house cleaning all day, and how tired she was," Turner said.

A month ago, U.S. authorities asked police to pick up the girl at the embassy in Colombia, but the country reportedly won't release her and she is still being held in a detention facility.

In a statement Tuesday, ICE said they were looking into the matter:

"ICE takes these allegations very seriously," said ICE Director of Public Affairs Brian Hale. "At the direction of [the Department of Homeland Security], ICE is fully and immediately investigating this matter in order to expeditiously determine the facts of this case." [1]

Liberty Counsel's statement

Macy’s Fires Employee for Protecting Women’s Dressing Rooms from Cross-dresser

www.LC.org

San Antonio, TX – A young woman was fired from the Macy's San Antonio Rivercenter department store for refusing to violate her religious beliefs by permitting a young man dressed as a woman from entering the women’s dressing room. Natalie Johnson claims she saw the young man walk out of the women’s fitting room and politely told him that he could not go back in because it was for women only. The cross-dressing young man claimed that he is a “female.” Johnson said that he was wearing make-up and girl’s clothing, but clearly he was a male. The cross-dresser was accompanied by five other individuals. The group argued with expletives that Macy’s is LGBT-friendly, to which Johnson replied that Macy’s is also non-discriminatory toward religion, and that it would go against her religious beliefs to lie that he was a woman or compromise with homosexuality. The group then demanded to speak with a manager.

When Johnson was confronted by her employer, she explained that she could not allow a male to change in a female’s fitting room. Johnson’s boss referred her to Macy’s LGBT policy which allows “transgender” people to change in any dressing room they want. However, Johnson pointed out that the same policy also protects against religious discrimination and, in this case, it protects her right to her beliefs that were being violated. The manager demanded that she comply with the LGBT policies or lose her job. Johnson refused to go against her sincerely held religious beliefs and was terminated from her job.

Mathew Staver, Founder and Chairman of Liberty Counsel, commented: “Macy’s policy which allows men to use the women’s dressing room is fraught with problems. This policy will cause significant problems and will alienate the majority of Macy’s customers. Macy’s has essentially opened women’s dressing rooms to every man. The LGBT agenda has become the theater of the absurd.”

Liberty Counsel encourages readers to contact Macy’s and politely let them know that this is completely unacceptable. You can reach Terry Lundgren, the CEO of Macy’s at macys_execs@macys.com or call their corporate offices at 513-398-5221 or fax them at 513-573-2049.[1]
